As you walk into an &pizza store, you can be sure it will be like no other experience. And the new location at Astor place is no exception! Read up on the 1st Nomad Location, here!
For one, it doesn’t look like your mom’s cookie-cutter pizza shop.The the black-and-white installation in the front entrance was designed by Jason Woodside and Jeffrey White of EAU is the interior designer behind the vision. The amazing space which kind of feels like a modern 70’s-mod with intricate black and white swirl-like designs and odd angles throughout the store.
The new store is &pizza’s 23rd shop in the US and will serve as a launchpad for Make Your Mark, &pizza’s new national campaign that celebrates individuality, creativity, and community through storytelling.
As the brand continues its expansion in new markets, like NYC, the Make Your Mark campaign will celebrate creators who are making their own unique mark in their various fields and communities. In addition to the launch of a national social campaign, &pizza will ask fans to co-opt the & logo as a symbol of individualism and creative expression by offering free pizza to guests who share their own images of the logo captured “in the wild” using #MakeYourMark. &pizza will also be engaging creatives to make their marks on their signature &pizza box.
Then there’s the pizza itself. The DC-based purveyor of custom pies comes armed with their own edible works of art. Bringing their already beloved pies like the Farmer’s Daughter with spicy tomato, spinach, mozzarella, Italian sausage, egg, red pepper chili oil, Parmesan and the Moonstruck made with mushroom truffle, garlic ricotta, mozzarella, mushroom, grilled onion, goat cheese, fig balsamic. They’ve also got a new limited-time pie, the Dirty Bird- a buffalo chicken style pie.
In addition to those staples, there are options of customizing your pie with inventive ingredients including 7 types of sauces, 6 cheese options (including vegan), fresh produce (with some fruity option like strawberries and blueberries for dessert pies), meat and vegan protein options, and drizzles like Cherry Bomb BBQ and Hot Honey. There is definitely no shortage of DIYs here.
They have also teamed up with local vendors- which they call Little Giants- like the new partners Mighty Quinn‘s for BBQ sauce and Keepers coffee soda, and a continuing partnership with Milk Bar for sweet additions like Cereal Milk Cream Soda (Christina Tossi’s version of a drink akin to a slightly sweeter Butterbeer IMHO) and Cereal Milk Cream Soda Cookies and others brands.
They celebrated their Media Preview with a DJ, tastes of their various pies, samples of the sodas which aren’t anything like your average Cola, and alcoholic beverages for those who chose to imbibe. If its opening is any indication, &pizza will become your go-to pizza spot, and for good reason.
To celebrate the new Astor Place shop, &pizza will offer free pizzas to the first 100 guests in line on grand opening day, Tuesday October 3rd. As has become tradition when opening new shops, &pizza will also offer free tattoos of the brand’s trademark ampersand logo to the first 23 guests in line who request them. Those interested , once inked, will receive free pizza for a year. Connection, inclusion and unity are the core values of the &pizza brand, and the meaning behind the ampersand logo.
