#WhiskeyFeast

All You Can Drink Whiskey!? Need I say more? On Saturday November 19th, The NYC Whiskey feast, inspired by last summer’s Whiskey Fried Classic, introduced, or for some, reintroduced us to over 40 types of whiskey. Suntory Whiskey from Japan, to Slow and Low Rock and Rye from Philly, to Stillhouse Whiskey right in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

Drinks
In addition to whiskey tastes there were many cocktails to indulge in, sweet, spicy and even creamy! Whiskey Feast Goers also got the chance to vote on their favorite cocktail. My favorite was the Bourbon Whip by Wheated located near Prospect Park. The cocktail reminded me of a Pina Colada, but of course using whiskey (Four Roses to be exact) instead of rum.

Eats
To name a few eats, Heros and Villains brought Thanksgiving a little early with their very satisfying Turducken Sandwich and Tres Carnes with their always on point tacos. Home Frite had their classic big fry and Brooklyn Oyster Party shucked one of my favorite shellfish right on the spot!

There was even room for desert. Tipsy Scoop spooned out Whiskey Ice Cream with Flavors like Vanilla Bean Bourbon, Dark Chocolate Whiskey Salted Caramel and Maple Bacon Bourbon with bits of bacon inside!! Manila Social complimented this well with their yummy Whiskey Bacon donuts.

A panel of judges also awarded winners for best food and drink. The panel included New York Times Editor Clay Risen, Gothamist Food Editor Nell Casey, Thirsty Magazine Co-Founders Tara Fougner and Jessie Gibson, Brooklyn Magazine Food Editor Sarah Zorn, and others.

The Winners
Best Cocktail: Autumn Breeze by Highland Park Whisky
Honorable Mention: Low Country Cider by Maison Premiere and Bourbon Whip by Wheated Brooklyn
People’s Choice: East Coast Buck by DRAM

Best Dish: Heavenly Beef Sliders by Sweet Chili
Honorable Mention: Pumpkin CinnaBiscuits with Whiskey Caramel Sauce by Beehive Oven Biscuit Café and Dark Chocolate Whiskey Salted Caramel Ice Cream by Tipsy Scoop
Whiskey Authors’ Choice: James F.C. Hyde (neat) by Epic Spirits

VIP
There was not only one, but two VIP rooms to move in between.
In VIP, you got the chance to make your own cocktail, by choosing the herbs, fruits and sweeteners to add to your drink. I came up with a mint, strawberry mixed with Maker’s Mark with a little brown sugar. I can say, I saw the mixologist come out in me 🙂

JestGreen was also whipping up some fall eats with southern classics like candied sweet potato, roasted turkey and braised greens.

Entertainment
Whats a party with out the music?

Hudson Horns brought the brass band vibes with some get down beats.

Let’s not forget the jammin DJ sets, which set the mood for good ol’ whiskey drinking. DJ Zev started things off during the afternoon session and DJ Vida closed the night under the illumination of the string lights of Brooklyn Expo Center.

For those looking for a little fun, there was Cornhole and Giant Jenga for the kid in us, a prop ready photobooth, spin painting of old school records, and even flash tats from Tattly, if you were looking to add a little bling to your whiskey swag.

The Whiskey Feast did it’s job right, everywhere I looked everyone had either a cocktail, shot of whiskey or grub in hand, not a whiskey filled moment to be missed!
