Irina Vitjaz

They say the 3rd time’s a charm, and Austrian designer Irina Vitjaz is no exception. She descended upon day 3 of New York Fashion Week in a haze of elegance and sleek designs with yet another stunning showcase. In a collaboration with NYFW’s First Stage partnership, Vitjaz presented her S/S 18 collection titled “Pure Couture” at the Gallery at the Dream Hotel. First Stage aims to provide an opportunity for foreign designers to bring their talents to NYFW and embrace a new audience. While not a newcomer to New York, Vitjaz is relatively new in the US market and many agree that her designs brought a breath of fresh air to the fashion scene.

Like her previous shows, Vitjaz chose to showcase the fine line between sophisticated and edgy clothing. Plunging necklines, high slits, and barely there material brought excitement to her collection. Many of the featured models on Saturday sported simple makeup and slicked back hairstyles courtesy of AOFMPro and Matthew Curtis; their looks were a perfect complement to the sophisticated feel of the collection.

Vitjaz has presented another fantastic line and we can’t wait to see what she does next season.

KG’s House of Fashion

Designer Karen Gettys’ fashion line, KG’s House of Fashion, is a fairly new brand that was created in 2016 and debuted their first ever presentation at Milk Studios towards the backend of NYFW. The small but impressive Pre-Fall presentation blurred the lines between corporate and elegant while still maintaining its originality. Sharp lines, regal cuts and colors such as navy and beige were the main characteristics of the presentation. Models at the show were stationary and spectators could walk around the studio and view the various looks from different angles and get a real feel for the line.

While this is the first ever NYFW show for KG’s House of Fashion, the line has garnered a lot of attention and is marking a new precedent for what corporate wear can look like. The much anticipated debut is sure to have people wondering when they can grab one of these pieces.

Street Fashion Week

Street Fashion Week kicked off in Midtown at Craven Restaurant showcasing up and coming designers and their fashions. The event started with a panel of entrepreneurs giving tips on how to build a brand, business tips, and giving advice for anyone at the starting point of their business journey. The fashion presentation portion of the night then began with presentations from The Secret Society of Ex Mermaids, Satin Roses, Significant Problems, and more.

The Secret Society of Ex Mermaids

Designer Francki Michels started the show with her out of this world designs. Anyone who wants to get in touch with their inner mermaid would have loved this presentation with the bright colors, bold embellishments and some of the models even sported tentacles with their outfits. The show wrapped up with 2 adorable little girls joining Michels on stage and dancing for the crowd.

Satin Roses

Simple elegance is what designer Amanda Kamhawy brought to life during her portion of Street Fashion Week. Simple, clean designs walked down the runway and many of the clothes featured were white, black and pink.

Significant Problems

This portion of the show kicked off with a bang. A music performance got the crowd hype for the presentation of the Significant Problems line. Causal, edgy, everyday wear then proceeded to walk around the crowd at Craven Restaurant, bringing with them plenty of attitude and leaving the audience wanting more. The presentation definitely picked up the energy and left an impression.
