The night that many of us waited weeks for finally arrived and unfortunately it dragged a rain storm with it. On December 6th, Pandora presented a collective of dope artists and DJs to Pier 36 for their Winter Wonderland themed concert, Sounds Like You.
I arrived an hour before the first performer of the night, Ty Dolla $ign, touched the stage and as I came up to the entrance, the line held many, drenched, impatiently waiting for the doors to open, but once inside the real experience began! Each guest received a badge on a lanyard which had names of sponsors who were giving out free goodies! From MENTOS to HGTV, we all hopped around until every sponsor stamped our badges and handed us a gift.
Pandora went all out for this one! Inside was so well decorated it screamed Winter Wonderland and was stacked with interactive installations. A huge plastic snow globe was the picture booth, while snow princesses threw glitter in the air for every picture.
The first performance was at the main stage with Ty Dolla $ign and the crowd was packed in to see him! The space was tight but the vibes kept the crowd comfortable. Ty set was dope and reminded us how smooth his music can be.
The next performer up was the reason why many of us battled the weather. SZA is a star! She gave us everything we needed! Black Girl Magic was in the air as all of us harmonized with the songstress, while fake snow fell out of the sky. During her set, SZA took the time out to thank all her fans for the support and announced that she was nominated for a music award for her latest project, CTRL.
Although SZA’s set ended too soon for me, it gave us time to grab a drink from the bar, take pictures and mingle. At the 2nd Stage, I ran into the cool guys of the group, Cheat Codes! My first time seeing them live was an experience because these guys definitely know how to party. Shooting money out into the crowd while jumping off the stage and kicking it with the crowd made their performance super fun!
The final performer was Post Malone, again back at the main stage. Needless to say, Post following is diverse so when he came on stage, the energy that vibrated towards him was unique. The night was young but the weather couldn’t hold many. A lot of people started to head out towards the end of Post’s set to beat the crowd, but not before they heard the people’s favorite, “Too Young”.
The night was full of music & art and if you couldn’t make it, you truly missed out on its the vibe and creative energy.
