Bric Arts and City Point will be hosting a BKLYN Bike Meet up at City Point’s newly opened mixed-use development in Downtown Brooklyn.
The BKLYN Bike Meet Up is a community art event to celebrate artist Miguel Luciano’s recent exhibition of newly commissioned work currently on view at Bric House. The exhibiton features customized Schwinn bicycles to commemorate the tradition of Puerto Rican bike clubs, which have existed in New York since the 1970s.
The BKLYN Bike Meet Up is a way for the community to experience the tradition of Puerto Rican Bike Clubs firsthand, learn from experts how to ‘trick out’ their own bikes, enjoy Latin American-inspired food, music, and win a Schwinn bike raffle.
To coincide with the event, a #BKLYNRIDES Instagram giveaway of 10 Schwinn bikes will also be taking place. To enter the #BKLYNRIDES giveaway, participants must post an original photo on Instagram with a bike using the hashtag #BKLYNRIDES and tag @citypoint, @bricartsmedia, and @schwinnbikes.
