On Wednesday, May 24th we celebrated Fleet Week, aboard The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum on Pier 86. Sailor Jerry spiced rum threw an epic party with a special performance from Alabama Shakes.

Now in it’s 29th year, Fleet Week NYC honors the USA sea services which include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, and United States Coast Guard with a week long celebration and events throughout the city. Sailor Jerry Rum in partnership with the USO of Metropolitan New York celebrated the start Fleet Week alongside service members and their supporters.

The party was held on the top deck of the Intrepid Air Craft Carrier. Featuring a live DJ set by Ian Saint Laurent, screen-printed tees, bites from CXRA catering and of course unlimited delicious Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum cocktails, which were smooth as hell.

We spent the evening drinking, dancing with sailors, taking pictures of the air crafts, and enjoying the open air. We all just felt happy to be an American. Boy could these sailors cut lose. You couldn’t help but hug the sailors, take their photos and give them thanks.

If all that wasn’t enough, guests were treated to an epic performance by the three-time Grammy-winning Alabama Shakes aboard an iconic aircraft carrier. They were actually performing later on in the week at a sold out show, so we scored big time by seeing them here. They was even better than we could of imagined. The live performance exceeded our expectations. They blew the roof off the Intrepid, with their full set. Britney (the lead singer and only female in the band) killed it with her electric guitar and soulful voice. As the sun set, we continued drinking and sang the night away in a sea full of sailors dressed in white.

Memorial Day isn’t just the official start of summer, it’s also the time to honor, remember and appreciate all the things our troops have done in order to keep us safe.
