Secret Summer Aquarius is like the heatwave of fun you need, in the heart of winter.  Master party planners  Secret Summer NYC combined sustainable seafood and inventive ocean-themed cocktails at the industrial chic Long Island City event space the Foundry, the last weekend of January.

Several themed rooms offered everything from aged-rum tastings from Brugal, Herradura Tequila cocktails, an oyster bar, beer from both local brewery Blue Point and Peru’s Cusqueña , Slow and Low Rock and Rye whiskey, and many other delicacies.

To complement all of the fine spirits and seafaring bites there were multiple performances including a burlesque act by Karina Precious, aerialist Sasha Hart,  live poetry, fortune telling, and the swingin’ High and Mighty Brass Band.

Guests danced to the DJ’s Kieren Taylor and Ryan Vandal tunes in a room full of white balloons, and despite the winter chill outdoors, revelers that wanted some fresh air took their cocktails to the courtyard and cozied up by a firepit.  Cocktails flowed, sushi was served, and partygoers enjoyed all of the dancing and entertainment into the wee hours of the night.

This was a good time party with a feel good mission: a portion of the proceeds were donated to New York City’s Sustainable fisheries and shellfish farms.
