Trawling traditionally refers to fishing with a large net. In this workshop, designers will learn about and then design their own trawl to collect pollution in the East River by skimming a net across the water surface.
The workshop will begin with a short presentation from designer and sustainable products activist, Barent Roth, on the state of ocean pollution and his DIY Re3DP Trawl Design. Immediately following, we will build our own trawls using repurposed plastic beverage bottles and 3D-printed connectors made from recycle PETE beverage bottles.
We will then walk to the East River Pier by North 5th Street to test for pollution along the East River and return to A/D/O to discuss our findings.
Tickets: $18
