Public School, an American fashion brand, based in New York City, was founded by Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne in 2008. Public School creates menswear and womenswear collections reflecting new age American designs, which are bold and challenge classic silhouettes, by focusing on fabric, fit and attitude.
Fun City Tattoo, a walk-in tattoo shop located in New York City’s East Village, was founded by legendary tattoo artist Jonathan Shaw in 1976, 20 years before it was legal to tattoo in NYC! Current owners, “Big Steve” Padone (also a former assistant to Shaw and tattoo artist in his own regard) and partner Maxx Starr, has made Fun City Tattoo into one of the most recognized and one of the top tattoo shops in the city.
NYC Plugged was invited to the PSNY x Fun City’s Tattoo launch event late last month at Fun City’s temporary location, and Public School’s Pop up at 3 Howard Street. They had a makeshift bar setup with a diverse lineup of beers and Babe Rose wine. The ambiance was very laid back and cool with a constant flow of conversation amongst the various influencers filling the shop.
The designers also made sure to mingle with the guests, with the collection was showcased throughout the shop. The Capsule Collection is composed of a hoodie and two long sleeve t-shirts, complimented with sketch graphics designed by Big Steve. They’re currently available for purchase at the pop-up and online at publicschoolnyc.com. To also celebrate the collaboration, Fun City has created limited edition tattoos, where you can book appointments via their site here!.
Here’s a closer look at the Collection!
