The country’s premier Brazilian music and arts festival, BRASIL SUMMERFEST, is returning to
NYC this summer. The festival will showcase a superb selection of some of Brazil’s most dynamic artists, including several making their NYC debuts, at free and paid venues around the city.

This year’s essential show is by CéU, the three-time Latin Grammy Award winner who will take the stage at Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center on July 6 with her innovative blend of electronica, jazz, samba, soul and reggae. CéU is joined by singer- songwriter Rommel and a debut DJ set by Ubunto, a night celebrating the brilliance of Brazilian music.

Other notable artists performing at this year’s festival include singer/songwriter Rodrigo
Amarante, known for his work with work Los Hermanos, Little Joy and Netflix’s Narcos theme
music, performing at Le Poisson Rouge on the festival’s opening day, sharing the
lineup with Alice Caymmi, the blazing Rio de Janeiro MPB singer, composer, and granddaughter
of Dorival Caymmi, who will be making her US debut. Dênde & Band, the Philadelphia based
Afro-Brazilian funk band who will release their upcoming album on Rope-A-Dope will be
performing at Nublu on July 2nd.

BRASIL SUMMERFEST will close out with the with a big dance party at House of Yes on July 24th
with João Brasil, Leo Justi, Daniel Haaksman with the Brasil Summerfest’s high energy party
Baile do Brasil presented by Old Parr, the event’s presenting sponsor. João Brasil is a Rio de
Janeiro based DJ and producer who will make his US debut and is known for his Brazilian
mashups, funk carioca and synthpop. Leo Justi is the producer behind Heavy Baile, the Rio
based collective whose music and dance performances have taken the world by storm. Last but
no least, the closing party will also feature Daniel Haaksman, the Berlin based DJ and producer
who has been extremely influential in advancing Brazil’s favela sounds to the world through his
Mann Recordings label.
