Celebrate cherry blossom season and all the spring blooms at Brooklyn Botanic Garden with casual, pop-up music and dance performances, morning programming for kids and families in the Discovery Garden, and Garden tours. All programs free with Garden admission.
Weekends in Bloom
Saturday, April 27th
Join us for performances including thunderous taiko drumming, a roaming band on stilts, and Japanese classical dance. Plus take a tour of seasonal highlights with a Garden Guide and bring the kids for hands-on nature exploration in the Discovery Garden.
Sunday, April 28th
Take in Japanese classical music and dance performances and a brass band, join for family programs in the Discovery Garden, and take a Garden tour to see what’s in bloom.
Saturday, May 4th
Catch a performance by an all-woman, Black-led percussion ensemble, learn to beatbox, watch an Arabic orchestra trio and a band performing music from Haiti and Zimbabwe, take a guided tour to see what’s in bloom, and enjoy family programs in the Discovery Garden.
Sunday, May 5th
Enjoy performances from a drumming dance group and an all-clarinet ensemble, take a Garden highlights tour, learn and play together in the Discovery Garden, and see Coney Island sideshow performers.
Saturday, May 11th
Experience shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, enjoy family programs in the Discovery Garden, take a tour with one of our Garden Guides, and catch a brass band performance.
Sunday, May 12th
Take a Garden tour and check out Guadeloupean guitar stylings, a “folk-rock chanson voyage,” a jazz ensemble, and a Brazilian drum and dance procession, plus explore nature through hands-on stations in the Discovery Garden.
Hanami Nights
Tuesday, April 23rd–Thursday, April 25th, 5–8:30pm
Find a spot on Cherry Esplanade to enjoy the cherry blossoms, lit up for maximum effect, and savor the spring vibe with family and friends. Stroll in the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden and along Cherry Walk, try your hand at origami, and view a curated display of bonsai in the Lillian and Amy Goldman Atrium. The evenings feature live performances, a bar selling Japanese beer and sake, and pop-up food menus curated with Sunrise Mart. Advance tickets required.
