City of Water Day 2021

July 10, 2021
city of water

City of Water Day is a free day-long celebration of the waters that surround us. The festival attracts more than 25,000 participants to enjoy our waterways, raise awareness about the risk we all face from sea level rise and climate change, and champion a resilient New York and New Jersey Harbor.

The event will include two primary components to allow for safe and socially distant activities:

  • The Art at the BlueLine exhibition in the Seaport District, will explore the BlueLine—the future high tide line—to collectively highlight the risk we all face from sea level rise and coastal storms. Extraordinary climate artists will provide a unique perspective on climate issues and sea level rise through the lens of artistic expression.
  • Dozens of organizations will be hosting In Your Neighborhood events at their local waterfronts. From free kayaking to rowing to hands-on workshops, In Your Neighborhood events offer throughout our region’s 1600 miles of coastline!

Participating organizations include Summer on the Hudson, Bronx River Alliance, Jamaica Bay – Rockaway Parks Conservancy, The Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club, and others.
