Summer of Soul Dance Parties: Pride | The Illustrious Blacks present SOULTRONIKA!

Afrofuturistic DJ and music duo, The Illustrious Blacks (Monstah Black & Manchildblack), invite you to their brand new, made special for Downtown Brooklyn, intergalactic dance party, SOULTRONIKA!

With a seamless mix of futuristic Funk, energetic Electro, hypnotic House and delicious Disco, the dynamic duo The New York Times hails as “Bed Stuy’s favorite creative couple” will transform the Plaza at 300 Ashland into a galactic utopian dance party in celebration of NYC Pride! SOULTRONIKA will also feature live pop-up performances by The Illustrious Blacks throughout.

Adding to the spectacle of the spacey shenanigans will be three members of Monstah Black’s new performance/dance company, House of Venus Rising aka HOVR. The ensemble will perform during The Illustrious Blacks set and act as hype people to further elevate the SOULTRONIKA energy.

Downtown Brooklyn and The Illustrious Blacks encourage all magical light beings who plan to attend the evening festivities to strut their stuff in their best otherworldly attire.

Born and cultivated in Fort Greene Park, Soul Summit is a DJ collective that is known for its legendary afternoon house music parties, some of the most anticipated outdoor summer events in Brooklyn. A summertime staple, Soul Summit has become an intergenerational, global destination for house heads; a safe haven for Black queer expression; and an enduring, authentic Black space in Brooklyn.

Summer of Soul Dance Parties: Soul in the Horn with DJ Natasha Diggs
Known as one of the most versatile and well-respected DJs in the world, Natasha Digg’s deep knowledge of music has enabled her to play for diverse crowds across continents. What started out as a deep love for music and collecting records evolved into a life purpose of sharing vibrations, uplifting her community & liberating dance floors around the globe. On any given night, her sets might dip into soul, funk, hip hop, house, Latin, Afro-Brazilian, reggae, rock and disco. Ms. Diggs has worked with musical icons Quincy Jones, Q-Tip and David Byrne; toured with Grammy Award winner Lauryn Hill; DJ’d with Erykah Badu; and played for Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson and Damian Marley among many others.
