Little Island Dance Festival 2021

One could consider New York City the most beautifully choreographed city in the world—a whirlwind of rhythm and noise as the delicate balance of humanity and industry propels and pulsates with life throughout our streets, every day and well into every night. In September, Little Island becomes a mecca of movement as the Little Island Dance Festival takes center stage in all of our spaces.

Join as the park is filled with a breathtaking variety of beats, tempos, and percussive dance forms from all over the world, from tap to traditional, from contemporary Indian dance to African drumming. Co-curated by Little Island Artist-in-Residence Ayodele Casel and long-time collaborator Torya Beard, the Festival will feature a variety of performances including a celebration of National Dance Day on September 18th with the premiere of new work by four choreographers, and will culminate with a showcase of young and mature dancers and conversations that you won’t want to miss.

Select events are ticketed. Free events that take place after 12 pm require a timed entry reservation for entrance into the park.
