Make Music New York Winter 2022

On Wednesday, December 21st, the winter solstice and longest night of the year, community-based music parades, processions, and pop-ups will bring streets and sidewalks across NYC to vibrant life.
Best of all, these special programs invite you to make music along with us! Musicians and singers are welcomed and encouraged to take the streets with us as we ring in the winter season with participatory and immersive programs designed for performers of all ages, cultures, and skill levels. If you’ve always wanted to showcase your passion for music in front of your fellow New Yorkers or introduce your kids to the joys of making music in fun, accessible ways, this is the festival for you!
Programs include crash course instructional workshops and play-along opportunities featuring hand bells, guitars, ukuleles, harmonicas, percussion and more. Or if you want to learn dance steps from the Appalachia and Indonesia. Or if you want to join pop-choruses to sing Handel or medieval melodies. Or if you want to march with a traditional Puerto Rican parranda.
