Join the New York Public Library at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building for the city’s most cerebral happy hour.
As The New Yorker turns 100 in February 2025, The New York Public Library is mounting a new exhibition, A Century of The New Yorker, that draws on the Library’s extensive collections to illustrate the magazine’s fascinating history and expansive cultural reach. Join us at the Library After Hours for special access to the exhibition, plus one-night-only events, including curator talks, trivia, 16mm films, live music, and more.
Schedule:
– What’s Your New Yorker Story? at 7:45 PM – The curators of the show discuss their personal obsessions with the magazine and read excerpts from some of their favorite pieces of all time.
– Finding Women’s Stories at 8:30 PM – Learn about the women, both celebrated and unsung, who built The New Yorker.
– Rejected! at 9:15 PM – Which amazing objects from the Library’s collections didn’t make it into the exhibition?
– World of Light: A Portrait of May Sarton (1979) at 7:15 PM
– The Family that Dwelt Apart (1974) at 7:50 PM
– Pica-don (1978) at 8:00 PM
