NYBG The Orchid Show ‘Florals in Fashion’

The 21st edition of NYBG’s iconic and beloved Orchid Show will be a fashion-inspired celebration of all things orchids, featuring the unique designs of Collina Strada by Hillary Taymour, Dauphinette by Olivia Cheng, and FLWR PSTL by Kristen Alpaugh.

Hilary Taymour is founder and creative director of Collina Strada, a fashion platform to promote climate and social awareness and foster self-expression. Olivia Cheng is designer and founder of fashion label Dauphinette, which is best known for its use of preserved botanicals and repurposed materials to create upcycled fashions. Kristen Alpaugh is FLWR PSTL, botanical artist, founder, and creative director at Haus of Stems, the world’s first on-demand botanical art atelier, known for her experimental botanical artwork and custom wearables.

Visitors will be invited to get up close to a variety of diverse orchid species amidst dramatic, picture-perfect installations created by these three featured designers and inspired by the captivating nature of these flowering plants.

On-site activations and ongoing public programs will allow visitors to “walk the orchid runway” and show off their own personal style, their love for orchids, and their fashion-forward connections to the natural world.

Orchid Nights 
March 30 & April 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, & 20; 7–10 pm

Immerse yourself in a mesmerizing array of orchids at New York City’s most fantastical night out. Visit the exhibition in the evening with a cocktail in hand, underneath the twinkle of the Conservatory. Also, featuring performances by the Iconic International House of Miyake-Mugler a stand-out name in the world of vogueing and ballroom culture, most recently as the winning contestant on Season 2 of HBO Max’s hit show Legendary.

The Orchid Dinner 2024
Thursday, February 22nd, 6:30 – 11:30pm

The New York Botanical Garden will host one of the most enchanting events of the winter season, The Orchid Dinner, at The Plaza Hotel.

Known for its wondrous and inventive orchid centerpieces, The Orchid Dinner will celebrate the Garden’s fashion-forward The Orchid Show: Florals in Fashion. Guests are invited to enjoy cocktails and a sale of exceptional and rare orchids carefully selected by NYBG’s curators followed by an elegant dinner and dancing.

Proceeds from The Orchid Dinner support the Garden’s global plant research and conservation initiatives, and programs in horticulture and education for all ages—all to help protect the Earth’s biodiversity.
