NYC Parks Mulchfest Chipping Weekend 2024

Join NYC Parks in the NYC holiday tradition of recycling your Christmas tree. Wrap up your holiday season and say goodbye to your tree at Mulchfest. They’ll chip your tree into wood chips used to nourish trees and make NYC even greener.

Mulchfest Dates and Locations
Drop off your tree at any Mulchfest location during park hours between December 26th and January 7th.

Chipping Weekend
Saturday, January 6th and Sunday, January 7th
10am-2pm

Bring your tree to a chipping site on Chipping Weekend to take home a tree-mento! They’ll chip your tree and give you your very own bag of mulch to use in your backyard or to make a winter bed for a street tree. To participate, look for a chipping site on the map or list.

Know Before You Go
Remove all lights, ornaments, and netting before bringing the tree to a Mulchfest site.

Volunteering
Volunteer with their Stewardship Team to help spread mulch from Mulchfest around our trees to insulate them from the cold weather.
