Prose x Neuehouse: Unwrapping our Crowns: Conversations in Black Hair and Wellness

Unwrapping our Crowns: Conversations in Black Hair and Wellness is a four-part event dedicated to unwrapping and unpacking the black hair and wellness experience. This event is rooted in sparking conversation and opening up dialogue around the psychology, history, and future of black hair and wellness, and above all else, a celebration of the black women entrepreneurs, creators, artists, and educators who have long been advocating for and engaging in this dialogue.

PART 1: Retrospective on Black Hair: History and Present- February 1st, 7-9pm

Explore the history, significance, and psychology of hair in the Black community with a look at how hairstyles have changed, and how we can celebrate Black hair today. RSVP Here!

PART 2: Sustainability and Natural Ingredients in the Black Wellness Space- February 8th, 6-8pm

Many products marketed to Black women being filled with harsh chemicals and unnatural ingredients. Join us for a discussion with the Black-owned companies bringing natural ingredients and holistic wellness into the Black beauty sphere. RSVP Here!

PART 3: A Look at the Intersection of Community and Economy- February 15th, 6-8pm

The Black hair industry is a billion dollar business, yet Black-owned salons and stylists take home very little of that profit. As a result, many Black women turn to friends and family to do their hair. This panel will address this unique intersection of community and economic networking. RSVP Here!

PART 4: Raising Black Children to Love Their Hair- February 22nd, 6-8pm

Hair is integral to Black identity, but developing a positive relationship with it can be a challenge considering society’s dictation of “good” and “bad” hair. Join us for a conversation about how we can uplift and nurture Black identity, while improving children’s relationship with their hair. RSVP Here!
