Lower East Side

2018 will mark the 8th Anniversary of the Lower East Side Film Festival.

In its inaugural year, the LESFF crew turned a Lower East Side pop-up space into a unique and intimate theater that featured a month long residency of sold-out screenings of some of the independent film community’s most innovative new talent.

This year will include numerous New York, US, and World Premieres, including Papillon starring Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek (more than 2 months in advance of wide release), personal appearance Ari Graynor (The Disaster Artist, I’m Dying Up Here) among others and retrospectives, parties, and events to butter up your moviegoing experience!

In addition, the full lineup includes Mind F*ck Night, a night of short films that festival programmers promise will f*ck with your mind, Ladies’ Night, a series of shorts with strong female characters (where Feminists pay $18.50, and Non-Feminists pay $8,632 to adjust for the median annual earnings difference between men and women), and New York Filmmaker Night, among others.

This year’s festival judges are Rosario Dawson (Kids, Rent, Daredevil, Jane The Virgin), cinematographer Sam Levy (Frances Ha, Mistress America), Matt FX (Music Supervisor for Broad City) and Heather Burns (Miss Congeniality, Sneaky Pete, Manchester by the Sea), among others.

The LESFF showcases low-budget and innovative independent films from all across the globe in all categories: features, shorts, documentaries, experimental, foreign, animation, web series, and music videos.
