On June 16th, Thrillist NYC took over Brooklyn’s Industry City to host their annual Best Day of Your Life event. This was our first year attending, so we didn’t exactly know what to expect, but as promised they delivered an awesome summer day, full of delicious eats, drinks, and fun activities.
As we checked in, we were greeted with smiles and received a punch card and map, listing all the vendors and restaurants we could enjoy. What made Industry City the perfect venue for this event, was that it’s composed of a complex which sprawls over 6 buildings with huge court yards in between, and a diverse food market already in place.
We felt free as a bird, as we made our way tasting what the 17 participating restaurants had cooked up for us, and spending the afternoon grazing on some of best dishes from the city’s favorite eateries. Among them was a Margarita Pizza from Table 87 coal ovens, Bacon Brats from Ends Meat, Lobster Ramen from Boil Boil Ramen, German Rice Pilaf Chicken Bowls from Kotti Berliner Döner Kebab, and Al Pastor Tacos from Taco Mix.

Between bites, we lounged around the court yards enjoying the terrific weather, while sipping on refreshing cocktails, and listing to live music. Nothing says summer is officially here like day drinking rośe from Charles Smith Wines or a cold Heineken. Schweppes helped us beat the heat with their new carbonated sodas, and totally knocked our socks off with their Schweppes Aperol Spritz, which is hands down one of our new summer time favs. We had to ask, so that we could share it with you.? It’s super easy to make!
- 2 ounces Schweppes Lemon Lime Sparkling Water beverage
- 2 ounces Aperol
- 2 ounces Prosecco sparkling wine
- Mix!
The court yards also offered some of the best fun we’ve had all summer. We got strapped in as we jumped as high as we could on trampolines, took up an out door salsa class, learned how to tie dye, and dove into a ball pit. White Castle even sponsored a game room, with mini golf, ping pong tables, and arcades.
If all that wasn’t exciting enough, we stubbled upon puppies!!! and pleased our inner child indulging in Ample Hill’s ‘”make your own sundae” station. We ended the best day ever with a dumpling class taught by Brooklyn Kitchen, who now calls Industry City home, and offers radical cooking classes all year round.
Thrillist NYC set the bar pretty high, and exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to see how they out do themselves next year! If you haven’t checked out Industry City, you simply must! Aside from all the great food, they have ongoing events and Instagram worthy public art at every turn.
