Mad. Sq. Eats, Garment District, and Broadway Bites are back for another season with new culinary competition presented by Citi.
Public market leader Urbanspace is excited to announce the return of Mad. Sq. Eats, Garment District, and Broadway Bites – the brand’s effervescent pop-up markets featuring some of New York’s best restaurants. In addition to longtime favorites and new concepts, this season’s outdoor markets will feature three finalists of the Citi Urbanspace Challenge, a program designed to give local chefs the chance to win a booth at Urbanspace at 570 Lex starting January 2019.
Mad. Sq. Eats. Operated in partnership with Madison Square Park Conservancy, will host Citi Urbanspace Challenge finalist Tristan Chin-Fatt of Destination Dumplings, along with returning vendors such as Mr. Bing, Truffleist, and Roberta’s Pizza. New to the market this year is Japanese street food Yakisoba and Turkish concept Kotti Doner.
Garment District. Newcomers to the market include Citi Urbanspace Challenge finalist Sonya Samuel of Caribbean fare Bacchanal Sauce, Taiwanese Bento truck Bian Dang, and raw cookie dough concept 2 Dough Boyz. Returning favorites include Indian Project, Croton Reservoir Tavern, and empanada classic La Sonrisa.
Broadway Bites. In association with 34th Street Partnership. Twenty-eight vendors join this year’s lineup, including Citi Urbanspace Challenge finalist Jumoke Jackson of Soul-full Sandwiches, Big Mozz, Empanada Papa, and Bao by Kaya. Newcomers to Broadway Bites include fish and chips shop Simply Hooked and Naples-born sandwich concept City Sandwich.
The public can vote here for the Citi Urbanspace Challenge to determine the one lucky winner of a booth at Urbanspace at 570 Lex. In addition to a public vote, a panel of expert judges, including influencer Ben Hon of @StuffBenEats, Michael Chernow of famed Seamore’s and The Meatball Shop, New York Magazine restaurant critic Adam Platt, and more will help determine the winner. Public voting begins Saturday, September 8th.
