For its inaugural R&R with series, Curagenda invites Steven Sacks, the founder and director of bitforms gallery, a leader in digital, internet and new media art. Since 2001, the New York bitforms gallery has been advocating and supporting media art showing artists who push into the boundaries of this territory, including Casey Reas, Quayola, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, R. Luke DuBois, Marina Zurkow, Manfred Mohr, among others. In conjunction with the gallery’s recent 15-year anniversary show at Minnesota Street Project in San Francisco, Steven will speak about the gallery’s program, the new media landscape and its evolving nature, as well as collecting and preserving digital art.
Talk begins at 7:30pm, with a special guest performance by Mary Carter
There will be an exhibition of works on view at Blender Workspace from March 28 to May 28.

Mary Carter
Mary Esther Carter grew up in St. Louis, Missouri where she studied under Robyn Hartley and apprenticed for the St. Louis Ballet Company. She spent summers at American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, and The Ailey School. She furthered her training at The Ailey School on Fellowship, performing works by Judith Jamison, Take Ueyama, and Francesca Harper. Mary has danced for The Francesca Harper Project, Touch Performance Art, Cibbo Matto, Amy Wan Man Cheung, and Willy Laury. She is also a singer -songwriter, actress, and filmmaker.
