How does one compete in the health food and salad industry anymore? One of those answers may be by offering unique and delicious food that is also portable. Co-founders Jon Mizrach and Rick Bender, worked in the Google food industry for seven years and developed a couple of ideas for the ever changing and competitive industry.

The inspiration came from people ordering lettuce wraps and looking for alternatives to eating healthy or the predictable salad. They realized they could basically have a portable salad, something that sets them apart from other alternative salad eateries. By utilizing warm and cold ingredients, and Swiss Chard instead of lettuce as the base, they are able to provide all the joys of a burrito sans the calories, depending on what the customer adds that is. The salads, wraps, and lettuce cups, are completely customizable.

The ingredients come from, local NYS farms and pastures, like upstate collaborative farm, Hudson Valley Harvest; whereas the meats are sourced from Fossil Farms also located in Upstate NY. Everything is created daily to ensure freshness, and the items are delivered within season. This is to guarantee that the ingredients are as good for the customer, as it is for the community.

Salads bowls are so yesterday! Salad wraps however, are easy to carry and eat on the go. Offering a variety of ingredients and a menu composed of purely local eats, Local Leaf gives your taste buds the world. Versatility is important to the company, they even offer oatmeal and crepes in the mornings to compliment and also as an addition to a variety of their salads. All of this helps to re-imagine the possibilities using common items.

Local Leaf also carries a fresh juice bar, where you can make your own drinks with various teas and juices. Smoothies are also made with all the same local ingredients, but each of them have a different kind of kick and fresh taste, depending on what’s added.

They have kombucha, tea, and cold brew. There’s even a tap for on the go drinks. Local Leaf growlers are available just in case you want to indulge with others, thats if you want to share the goodness.
