The Gallery
Not a Fresco is an extension of a body of work assembled by NYC-based artist Adriana Gallo observing the implementation of coded materials and forms in the absence of language.
Inspired by Italian shrines, or santuari, Gallo’s compositions mirror the ways that we collect, assemble and compose the physical objects in our lives as methods of communication and reflection in an otherwise idiorrhythmic lifestyle. This collection of forms is specifically interested in the collision of inner and other-worldly aesthetics and arrangement as a spiritual exercise.
Adriana Gallo lives and works in Brooklyn, NY with roots in Milan and New England. Her practice exists between painting, design and sculpture with an emphasis on notions of routine and ritual and the resulting artifacts. She received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2015.
The Gallery Annex is a small space for big ideas. Conveniently located by the Lobby’s bar and W/C, the cabinet has housed soft sculptures, dollar-store deals, radical political ephemera and fabric art.
