Concept
The Freehold is a unique 10,000SF hospitality concept reminiscent of a bustling boutique hotel, without the actual hotel rooms. Developed in 2015 by Soho House veterans Brice Jones and Brad Gallagher, The Freehold located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn offers multiple bars, a coffee shop, restaurant, game room, spacious courtyard, an invite-only membership component plus a live music & event space. On weekends, DJs play to a packed bar of Manhattanites who’ve come to dance on the couches to Biggie Smalls remixes and weekdays offer a number of programmed events such as concerts, comedy events, trivia nights and pop-up events.
Chef
In Summer 2018, Chef Roy Wohlars joined The Freehold as Executive Chef (we went to his Preview Sinner on the 14th!)with the aim to reinvent and elevate the dining program. Wohlars new menu takes inspiration from his domestic and international travels. Wohlars got his first big break in the industry working under Chef Todd Mitgang of the renowned Crave Restaurant and was quickly promoted to be Mitgang’s sous chef at his Montauk Restaurant South Edison. In 2013, Wohlars moved on and joined forces with with Zak Pelaccio to open Fish & Game in Hudson NY. Wohlars decided to go back to the East End and in 2014 partnered with Chef Gary King to open Moby Dick’s in Montauk which then led to his role as the executive chef of Rushmeyer’s where he stayed from 2015-2018. The Freehold team is thrilled to welcome Roy to the family.
Food
The Freehold’s newly launched dining program consist of dinner options like Steak Frites for $24, Whole Roasted Japanese Eggplant for $17, Chicken Diane for $20, Impossible Burger for $18, House Ground Ribeye burger for $18 as well as small plates like Nashville Hot Chicken Legs for $12, Garam Masala Deviled Eggs for $8 and more. For dessert, indulge in a large format Buttermilk Pancake with banana, rum caramel, walnut for $19.
Cocktails
Lobby Cocktails range between $12-$13 and include options like The Summertime Sadness with bourbon, mint honey simple, fresh honey and cucumber, The Hot Ex with tequila, hot sauce, grapefruit and fresh lime, the All Day with Rosé, rum, grapefruit and fresh watermelon juice.

Programming
Each month The Freehold programs a variety of events and concerts for their Freeholders members and outside guests including Freehold’s Studio Sessions live concert series which in the past has featured bands such as St. Lucia and Saint Motel and Lobby Comedy Shows on select Monday nights which feature the nations top stand-up comics performing short sets. Membership
The Freeholder Program is an invite-only, complimentary membership. It has been integral to the success of Freehold curating it’s crowd with a diverse group of growing industry professionals and tastemakers in fashion, marketing, tech, media and music fields. The exclusive yet inclusive program helps activate and engage the brand on the highest level. Freeholder Perks: Skip the line on the weekends and bring in +3 non-Freeholder friends, 1/2 price bar happy hour starting at 12AM on TH to midnight on Fridays, and access to table reservations in the courtyard (not available for regular guests).
Owners
The Freehold was founded by Brice Jones and Brad Gallagher who met while working at Soho House New York and continued on to work for NYC Best Bar together. It was then that Brice and Brad created the unique concept for The Freehold.
