SAY IT LOUD: I’M BLACK AND I’M PROUD AT 50 – An Apollo Theater Revolutionary Virtual Reality Experience as part of James Brown Tribute Night.
When “Soul Brother Number One” James Brown released “Say It Loud: I’m Black and I’m Proud” in the summer of 1968, it became the theme song for an entire movement. This concert celebrates not only James Brown, but also the Black Pride music he inspired among other African-American artists starting in the summer of 1968, including The Temptations, Sly and the Family Stone, Nina Simone and more.
Additionally, attendees can join in the Coca-Cola Virtual Reality Lounge, created by MVP Interactive, a leading consumer engagement technology company that has teamed up with The Apollo Theater to curate a narrated virtual reality experience. This 360 virtual reality experience showcases the history and legacy of the Apollo Theater, in which users can experience of what it is like to perform on stage. The lounge will also include a fun photo booth experience for attendees to take photos with customized backdrops that can be shared on social media.
Arrive early to enjoy the Coca-Cola Virtual Reality Lounge on Saturday at 6:30pm.
