We kicked off the summer with the perfect day event at the third annual Vinho Verde Wine Experience. Vinho Verde is a wine producing area located in northern Portugal where grape vines thrive and are released 3-6 months after harvest. Not your typical wine tasting, the event was hosted at the insta-famous SECOND FLOOR in NYC. SECOND Floor is known for the awesome indoor/outdoor panoramic views and on a perfect summer day, does not disappoint.
Upon entering, guests were met three options: dance, sip or eat or all three! Inside I found a crowd of all ages, with their complimentary wine glasses and sipping their way throughout the venue. After all, Vinho Verde wineries flew into the city to share the variety of their amazing wines, so we had to try them all!
Each table had a designated representative knowledgeable in their specific brand of wine. The VIP option allowed us the chance to speak with the actual producers and learn what makes each wine unique, and what best to pair them with. The offerings of the region includes red, white, rose, sparkling and even brandy. Once you approach the tables you are given a sample of each (not all at once) to sip, and slowly notice the different flavors and notes. The natural conditions of the region where the wines are produced, make for the perfect grape varieties.
As if endless wine wasn’t enough to satisfy your insides, the event included delicious bites from some of NYC hottest restaurants. Across the room we nibbled on everything from seafood to veggie empanada’s at mouthwatering food stations: SECOND Floor, BreadandSpread, Mymomochi and Silly Chilly Dumplings.
The bar area served up signature cocktails, which included Spindrift sparkling water to help refresh guests. In my opinion, the Vinho Verde Wine Experience is the perfect summer event to kick off the season.
