Earlier this month we were invited to attend a rare opportunity to taste a few summer wines from the Upper East Side store Millesima USA, presented by the General Manager Hortense Bernard at Kola House in the Meatpacking District. It’s also important to note that the Millesima UES store carries over 40 Rosés this time of year, Summer starts this week after all!

We learned a lot about the company and how they carry specially curated wines in different varieties straight from France. Millesima S.A., the parent company located in Bordeaux, France is one of the largest buyers of French wines. Considered the leader of online sales of fine wines in Europe, the company boasts a large selection. Millesima USA, the New York store,  offers a large selection of fine and rare wines, including the sought after French, Italian, and New World wines.

The wines are personally selected for their quality and value and boasts the highest quality standards from storage to customer service. For wine connoisseurs, it would be good to note that Millesima S.A. carefully maintains more than 2.5 million bottles of fine wine that age slowly in the company’s cellars in Bordeaux, including more than 12,000 large format bottles, some called magnum size. This definitely ensures that as a customer, you will always have access to the best and even rarest wines available on the market.

From left to right the wines were all delicious and different from one another.

Drappier: Brut Nature Rose, Champagne – $59.99
This wine is made from Pinot Nour grapes and is a very light yet sweet wine.

Alphonse Mellot: Edmond Sancerre – $84.99
The white wine showcase of the evening was very tasty, perfect for summer nights.

Chateau Peyrassol – $69.99
Shown in the magnum size, this was a refreshing and delicious rose wine.

The venue, Kola House,  also provided us with hors d’oeuvres to compliment the wine. These included mushroom fingers, filet mignon, gnocchi and delicious cheese plates as the savory treats. Guests were also invited to sweets like macarons and raspberry tarts, all of which complimented the wine to perfection.

Overall, the event was an amazing showing of Millesima and their vast collection of rare wines. Their wines could fit any occasion throughout the year. If you ever find yourself in the Upper East Side it would be worth your while to check out their endless collection in person, located at 1355 2nd Avenue.
