It’s officially summer! That means it’s time to start lining up the right rooftops, with the right views, to enjoy that refreshing cocktail…or three.

Luckily, there is a new rooftop bar and lounge which has opened right in the heart of Chinatown. It’s called the The Crown, atop the equally as new hotel, 50 Bowery!

As a part of the Three Kings Restaurant Group (headed by Chef Dale Talde, David Massoni and John Bush) latest project with the Joie de Vivre Hospitality Group, the Crown is only the beginning for the new hotel.

Earlier this month, we got the chance to check out the digs, and I can say, I was very impressed. The space is one thing which sets this rooftop apart from others, but we will get back to that later.

The cocktails and food menu take from the neighborhood, with Asian-inspired cocktails and globally inspired street food, from the US to overseas.

Unique Cocktail selections include favs like:
The Crown Manhattan, made with:
Rittenhouse Rye
Carpano Antica
Szechuan tincture
Bitters

The East India, made with:
Fords gin
Pimms
Lemongrass
Ginger
Cucumber
Lime

The Black Dragon, made with:
Elyx vodka
Oolong tea
Green tea
Spiced calamansi

The Slush Cocktail, made with:
A Lemon Lime Rickey base slush and flavored with tropical fruit mixes.

The Slush Cocktail will change seasonally, based on the produce of Chinatown, including dragon fruit, papaya, lychee and tamarind.

Beyond these, a variety of mocktails will be available, in addition to beer, wine, sake and soju, by the glass or bottle.

The views are to die for, with rooftop sections on both sides, you can see lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn, and if you hop on the other side, upper Manhattan and the Empire State Building. Talk about options for that selfie! It also doesn’t matter if you take it in the day or night, because both views make the photo jealous-worthy.

The interior of The Crown, designed by Wimberly Interiors also has its own type of glow. The whitewashed brick and copper light fixtures really opens up the space and gives off an all too relaxing ambiance, when the sun rays shine through.

Later this summer, you can also look forward to the ground floor restaurant, Rice & Gold, which will be Asian centered and feature dishes like Arroz Caldo, Pancit Palabok, Thai Fried Chicken and Pho Soup Dumplings. Below Rice & Gold, The Green Lady, a parlor lounge, will offer live music and entertainment.

The Crown is located inside Hotel 50 Bowery, between Canal and Bayard Streets.
The bar and lounge is open all week long, Sunday – Wednesday from 12pm – 2am, and Thursday – Saturday from 12pm– 4am.

Reservations can be made via OpenTable, or by calling 646-630-8057.

You can even book a stay at the Bowery Hotel, and enjoy The Crown on the regular. 🙂
