Last Wednesday, we were invited to enjoy a cool summer evening with Perrine at The Pierre Hotel for their Smash Bash, which celebrated tennis and co-hosted by 2017 Wimbledon Champion Garbiñe Muguruza.

If your aren’t too familiar with Wimbledon, you might ask who is Garbiñe Muguruza? Well you’ve been missing out. Garbiñe Muguruza, who is only 23, I must add, has won four singles titles, including two majors: the 2016 French Open and the 2017 Wimbledon Championships. Currently ranked number 4 in the world by the WTA, Garbiñe is of Spanish-Venezuelan descent and turned professional in 2012. You should definitely will see more of her this year!

The Smash Bash took place on Rose Terrace of Perrine, right across from Central Park, at 61st Street between 5th and Madison Avenues. The sidewalk was blocked off for everyone to fully take in the festivities, and as you entered you were transported to an outdoor festival.

Food and drank flowed endlessly. Eats were prepared by the Chefs of Perrine, Executive Chef Ashfer Biju and Executive Pastry Chef Michael Mignano. Touted as elevated takes on “court-side fare,” it was nothing short of that. There were three tables laid out you can take as different courses.

The tailgate table had my favorites. It included chicken lollipops with a spicy ranch dressing to dip them into, Dirty Chicken Dogs topped with homemade tomato chutney and fennel relish, pulled beef sliders with a onion remoulade and lastly lamb merguez sausages with Herbs de Provence.

A Summer Mezzo spread included dips like Hummus, Tabbouleh and Babaganoush with various breads and cheeses. Also a delicious Watermelon Strawberry Gazpacho.

The Dessert Table had a Mignano Candy bar which was cut to order, tennis cupcakes, mini churros with chocolate fondue, vanilla parfaits cups and housemade Perrine Icepops made with bits of fruit. It was the perfect sweet treat for a summer day!

After being stuffed like a well fed pig, drinks were on deck for us to enjoy. Whispering Angel Rosé and the signature cocktail of the U.S. Open, the Honey Deuce cocktail was provided by Grey Goose.

A party isn’t a party without the music. Jazz band Gotham Easy started off the night with a lively live music set and DJ Rosé (perfect fit for the night) took us into the night with some dance worthy jams. Table tennis was also set up for those of us who wanted to practice our back hand.

Perrine also holds exquisite sit down dinners in their space and the next is  Thursday, September 7th; Chef’s Social Club: A Gastronomic Exploration of Teas with Palais des Thés.
