Like the city itself, the Winter Film Awards showcases the eclectic diversity and excitement of the independent arts world. Winter Film Awards is proudly one of the BEST REVIEWED FESTIVALS on FilmFreeway.
Emerging filmmakers with low budgets and no connections are so often ignored in favor of the standard big budget generic action films. Exciting low-budget films are created all over the world; we need the opportunity to see them!
Their annual international film festival is a ten-day event including awesome film screenings, cool discussion panels, useful professional development workshops and super-fun parties at venues throughout NYC. Works of all lengths and genres are considered for Festival screening, including narrative Fiction, Documentary, Web Series, Music Videos, Animation and Horror. Each year, Winter Film Awards selects 80-90 independent films of all genres – roughly half of selections are made by women, roughly half are made by people of color. All selected films are screened at Cinema Village, New York City’s best independent cinema. The event concludes with a glittering awards ceremony and red carpet gala at one of NYC’s premier nightclubs. We award over $100,000 in cash, prizes and distribution opportunities!
Like many of the great film Festivals across the country and the world, WFA seeks to bring their audience compelling and unique content that inspires the viewers and honors the filmmakers. There are hundreds of film festivals in New York City; what makes them different is their intense focus on the variety and quality of their films and their dedication to helping new filmmakers reach what may be their first real audience.

This dynamic experience explores Jim Henson’s groundbreaking work for film and television and his transformative impact on culture, which includes guided tours/talks and screenings of Jim Henson films, including The Muppets Movies.

Sunday, September 22nd, 12-6pm with an afternoon featuring special guests and discussion, book signing, a puppet workshop, collectible swap meet, live music in the courtyard, and more! 2️⃣🧟♀️ MAKEUP AND PRODUCTION DESIGN + THE EXORCIST
This exhibit explores the film production and makeup design, including that for The Exorcist, detailing how a stylish townhouse in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., and an innocent young girl were transformed into sites of horror.
3️⃣📽️ BEHIND THE SCREEN
The Museum's core exhibition immerses you in the creative and technical process of producing, promoting, and presenting films, television shows, and digital entertainment.
