New Yorkers are notoriously picky. From restaurants and bars to events, we’re spoiled enough to be able to tell the good from the bad. Or at least jaded enough, that only the best can really have an impact on us.

The Inaugural POPSUGAR Play/Ground promised New Yorkers the one-of-a-kind experience we’ve come to know and expect, and the team at POPSUGAR definitely delivered. Taking over Pier 94, they really did set up an adult playground complete with panels and booths from brands we love; makeovers, food from vendors like the always yummy and good for you David’s Tea,  Daiya with their dairy free products and more.

The first thing I noticed as I walked into the huge space, was a giant ball pit, which was accessible from about eight different slides.  I assumed there would be a line, but you could’ve taken a ride anytime you wanted, and it was a pretty seamless process, solidifying the playground vibes.

As Playground Goers wandered the pier, there were booths from brands, both well-known and not so known, all offering either sale items or freebies. Some of these names included Victoria’s Secret, which handed out numbers that matched a locker in which you could grab a free item, from socks to workout leggings. Kohl’s offered Kohl’s Cash in amounts determined by a “Price is Right” style wheel that everyone could spin. There were also booths giving free facials, hair styling sessions and more!

On the outside, surrounding those were various fitness booths, including 305fitness, which gave its own pumping workout demos throughout the day, and many fashion vendors like gold.8, selling reversible totes, backpacks and crossbodies.  Skin Inc., Ur Bath & BodyWinkyLux and Pinkie Swear glammed with their beauty and makeup products, and there were also a couple jewelry and fitness clothing brands.

Now if all that weren’t enough, “The Bold Type” had its own booth with mini panels from Popsugar’s team of geniuses, who each had their own advice on topics from clothes to makeup and beyond. The days schedule as a whole was scattered with the most amazing speakers and presentations at the main stage.

To start the day, Kayla Itsines, famous for her BBG app, kicked people’s butts two days in a row. Her workout was no joke and I can totally see how her app helps people lose weight and quick! Also teaching a class was Simone of Body by Simone who, in a different fashion, did a HIIT session, and worked us out through dance.

Saturday hosted dynamos like Mindy Kaling who inspired the crowd with her single mom superpowers and sound advice, and Kate Hudson, a similarly strong power figure. Among other panelists were Tiffany Haddish, Yara Shahidi, Arianna Huffington, Cleo Wade and even some of the cast of Riverdale, on the CW. You really couldn’t get a better grouping of powerful women speaking in one room, if you tried.

Popsugar Playground lasted 2 days (the weekend of June 9th), from 11am-7pm, with a 10am entry for VIP ticket holders, and somehow that didn’t even seem like enough.

Guess I’m just going to have to wait until next year to follow up, because there’s no way Popsugar won’t do it again with the following this year’s has gotten. Will I see you there?
