For some Thanksgiving can be a stressful time of the year, and I’m not just talking about lugging around 15 lb turkeys. Some aren’t able to travel home to see their families, while others choose not to; it can take a container of tums to get through the holiday table talk in this inflammatory political climate. If you’re staying in NYC and want an alternative to the usual Thanksgiving fare check out our list of ideas below!
1) Hot Pot it Up!
With so many new hot pot restaurants opening in the lately what better way to warm your holiday with your favorite people gathered around a hot pot. Word on the street is that Chong Qing Lao Zao is the top hot pot hot spot (say that five times fast) of the moment.
2) A Vegetarian-Friendly Feast
For $98 you can have a luxurious three course Vegetarian feast at Chef Jeans George’s abcV. Feeling flush? Add some White Tuscan or black Perigord truffles for an extra 55 bucks.
3) Put an Indian Accent on Thanksgiving
At one of New York City’s top finest Indian restaurants, Indian Accent , for $95 you can have a special multi course menu curated by Chef Manish Mehrotra. Featuring many of their signature plates as well as some new dishes like ghost chili pork ribs, manipur bamboo shoot, and smoked duck kabab barberry chutney, just to name a few.
4) Choose Chinatown
Chinatown is always a cornucopia of cheap dining delights and Thanksgiving should be no different. Green Garden Village is a current favorite, but call ahead to make sure they’ll be open.
5) Have a Koreatown Meatsgiving
Sam Won Garden will be serving their usual menu of Korean BBQ classics. One of “the oldest Korean BBQ restaurants in South Korea” it’s one of the newer big BBQ houses. Gather around the grill for some bulgogi and stuff yourself silly.
6) Italian Thanksgiving…at the World’s Best Bar?
Recently voted the world’s best bar, Dante will be serving a four course Italian Thanksgiving including Lioni Burrata with roasted beets, Fennel Pollen, Sorrel and Rye, Truffle Mac n Cheese, Fazzoletti with Pesto Genovese, Stracciatella & Pangrattato, and yes even a traditional oven roasted organic turkey breast with Armagnac Gravy and Cranberry Sauce. For dessert ? Butternut Pumpkin Pie or a mug of Dante’s Pumpkin Eggnog.
Wherever you choose to celebrate being Thankful, hoping its a holiday free of fret!
