For their NYFW showcase, the folks behind Bohn Jsell Spring/Summer 2019 Collection combined their love for the city’s natural urban habitat and femininity, creating an exhibit that stood apart from the routine catwalk of other fashion shows.
In the small but comfortably confinements of Vision Space NYC in Times Square, eight models, and one child stood stationary on a bed of greenery and flowers to model Jsell’s latest looks. With sparkling sneakers, each of the female models rocked a piece from the Grafitti Garden collection that evoked contrasting colors and a love for legs. “She is the rose that grew from the concrete, pollinated with culture,” a screen read of the show’s Graffiti Garden theme. While the hues of the room routinely changed colors to illuminate different moods for the showcase, the selection of POC models also served as a win for diversity, and what’s better than representation in 2018?

As the showcase was placed in the center of the room, photographers, guests, and supporters circled around the garden to snap photos of the exhibit. As it happens with New York, Vision Space became a little too sweltering for the body count, but complimentary Life WTR and light treats provided by Sugar with Style kept the crowd hydrated and nourished.
