Have you attended a basketball game recently? A Brooklyn Nets game? If you love the excitement of an in-person matchup, you won’t want to miss out on their Friday Night Live games. Friday Night Live is a brand new event launched by the Brooklyn Nets this season, elevating the team’s Friday night home games at Barclays Center.
The special event series builds on the connection between the fans and the Brooklyn Nets, while also celebrating the best of Brooklyn culture through music, fashion, art, or lifestyle.
There are five “Friday Night Live” games being played this season, three of which have already been played. During each game, individual players will be highlighted in various ways. They include games vs. Orlando Magic on November 19th featuring Blake Griffin, vs. Minnesota Timberwolves on December 3rd featuring Kevin Durant, and vs. Milwaukee Bucks on January 7th featuring Patty Mills.
So how are they exactly elevating their individual players? These games will have a ton of fun activations you can look forward to, which include:
- The first 10,000 fans in attendance receiving a custom-designed Nets shirt
- A playlist curated by the player’s favorite music spun throughout the game
- Merchandise signed by the featured player used for in-game promotional giveaways
- The hosting various community groups selected by the player. For example, Blake Griffin hosted a group of children from Brooklyn Community Services during the game on November 19th. He welcomed the group with a shout-out video played in-arena during the game, and treated the group to a special holiday surprise.
Fans who also walk the Nets black carpet located at Section 24 and have their photo taken by the “paparazzi” can enter to win signed player merchandise at each game, and a DJ will perform on the arena’s plaza beginning at 5:45 p.m. each game day. There will also be a live show on TikTok from the black carpet that features various influencers and performers, and a “Drip Cam” used during each game will showcase fans with the best outfits on the center-hung.
UPCOMING GAMES: vs. the Portland Trail Blazers on March 18th and vs. the Clevland Cavaliers on April 8th. There is no featured player for March 18th (t-shirt giveaways will still happen) and the featured player for the 8th is TBD. Keep an eye on The Nets’ socials for updates.
As a Friday Night Live exclusive, elevated halftime (read lit and live) performances have featured Maino on November 19th, Lil’ Kim on December 3rd, and Dream Doll on January 7th. Dave East and Method Man will perform on March 18th.
We attended the game on December 3rd vs the Minnesota Timberwolves, featuring the 11× NBA All-Star Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets and a live performance by Brooklyn-born hip hop artist Lil’ Kim, who graced the floor this particular Friday to perform a few of her hits and had us doing the bop. What a GAME!
