Uniqlo celebrated the launch of their new SUPERGEOMETRIC collection on Friday March 3rd at their 5th Avenue store in NYC.

The night started off with a DJ set by Franco V followed by Taryn Manning, who killed it and who I didn’t know could DJ. It was awesome to see her in action!

Those in the crowd were  treated to wine, prosecco and a special cocktail called Super Geo, which consisted of a mix of Tito’s Vodka, St. Germain and cucumber, giving off a green hue, almost like a superhero juice, maybe a play off  the super in  ‘SUPERGEROMERTIC’ perhaps?

Artist Sigrid Calon was also amongst the crowd for her large scale installation which lined the floors, banners and columns of the 5th Avenue store. Calon is known for her vibrant patterns and shapes, by blending geometrics with contrasting colors.

The Dutch-born, graphic artist will also feature her work on limited edition items only available at the 5th Avenue location, including four notebook designs and a screen-printed tote bag. You might recognize Calon’s designs as she has had previous partnerships with Swatch and Printed Matter. I even got the chance to chat with Sigrid and she was super chill, artist vibes all around.

Others notable influencers in attendance included  Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor, Waris Ahluwalia, Christina Caradona, Preston Konrad, Christie Ferrari, Marcel Floruss, Rachel Martino, Kristin Gallegos, and Luanna Perez amongst others. Taryn, Atlanta, Waris, Christina, Preston, and Luanna were all donning some UNIQLO SUPERGEOMETRIC wear.

Guests left with Sigrid’s tote bag and cap from SPRZ NY artists Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, or Jean Michel Basquiat.

Sigrid’s in-store installation:

SUPERGEOMETRIC is a new addition to UNIQLO’s SPRZ NY (Surprise New York) collection, inspired by the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) artists and their work such as Sol LeWitt, Josef Albers, François Morellet, Gego and designer Max Bill, as well as a younger generation of artists.

Expanding from to the usual SPRZ NY T-shirts, there are also jumpsuits, dresses, and accessories available, which help to expand the choices when it comes to the cool geometric designs and clean and bold patterns.

“MoMA and its artists have been a muse for UNIQLO since we began our global partnership in 2013,” stated Masahiko Nakasuji, UNIQLO’s Global Co-Chief Marketing Officer. “SUPERGEOMETRIC celebrates some of the Museum’s artists, who pushed geometry’s most basic components to new creative forms and expresses their artistry through the collection’s silhouettes and design.”
