Earlier this month Portuguese Boutique Hotel, Pestana Park Avenue officially opened its doors right in the heart of midtown, steps away from Bryant Park and Grand Central Station.
The preview evening was an extravagant celebration and tour of all things Portuguese, that as we entered it felt as if we had just stepped into the colorful streets of Lisbon! We were treated to delightful light bites, Portuguese cocktails and even a live Fado performance, featuring a traditional Portuguese guitar! We were excited to break ground on an impressive new location to stay, when in New York City.
Designed by Glen & Company, Pestana Park Avenue is Pestana Hotel Group’s 100th property and its first in New York. The newest addition translates all the values of Portuguese culture, from the boutique concept of modern and functional design with a specific focus on Portuguese hospitality. Offering a charming and memorable experience. With 27 floors, the property is divided into four rooms per level max (ideal for privacy), for a total of 95 rooms complete with large windows which bring in natural light.
The ethos of the property was a fruitful collaboration that includes decorative azulejo tiles, the Spanish and Portuguese glazed ceramic blue tiles you might be familiar with, as a panel designed by renowned artist Manuel Cargaleiro in the outdoor patio. Azulejo murals by famed artists Add Fuel and Bela Silva can also be found throughout the property, all produced by Portuguese manufacturer Viúva Lamego.

Photography by Portuguese artist Catia Castel Branco takes you on a world journey, just from the rooms of Pestana. Additional highlights include linens designed by Portuguese brand Baínha de Copas, and in-room amenities by traditional Portuguese soap manufacturer Castelbel. The hotel has several custom rooms for every need (The Cozy, The Classic, The Superior, Balcony, and Junior suite). Oh, did we mention that this eco-friendly property is also 100% paper and plastic-free?
The lobby includes a cozy fireplace and adjacent from that, is a quaint dining area that features a daily breakfast buffet, along with complimentary Portuguese pastries ‘pastéis de nata’, fruit, water and coffee throughout the day.
Additionally, Pestana Park Avenue has partnered with Convene at 101 Park Avenue which is just around the block from the hotel, for any meeting needs. Convene offers abundant spaces for meetings and events as well as onsite Audio- Visual, daily refreshments and Food & Beverage options. Fitness enthusiasts can stay in shape via Pestana’s partnership with Blink Fitness, where guests have access to any of their multiple convenient locations.
