Spring is finally upon us, but it isn’t truly official until New Yorkers and visitors alike, visit the 17th Annual Orchid Show at New York Botanical Garden.

This year, the show is inspired by Singapore, who’s national flower is the orchid. As you enter the greenhouse, you are transported to the small island, taking in all aspects of its beautiful nature. With various species of the orchids featured, there’s a fresh bloom and vibrant new color in just about every crevice of the space. We got the chance to check out the show during the first night of their Orchid Evenings, which is 21+ fun!

Tour the different climates featured, such as the heat of the desert, or the cooling rainforest. We felt as if we were really able to experience authentic parts of the world with each plant we came across; as several were pulled from different countries, and could never grow naturally in the US.

Before heading to the greenhouse, you can extend your experience by making a reservation at the Hudson Garden Grill. The last reservation prior to the show is at 5:30pm. Then while walking through the show, be sure to sip on the signature themed cocktail, the Singapore Sling, or enjoy a classic glass of wine or beer.  Bronx Night Market is also present, serving up eats from their best vendors.

Live music adds to the evening. Produced by Eli Tyler, a singer/songwriter born in Singapore, and choreographed by Singaporean dancer Chua Yun Chun, they bring the culture of the city-state to life.

There are insta-worthy spots found in just about every room. We recommend striking a pose in front of the Orchid Supertree, or possibly the arched walkway, where you can capture the most the show has to offer in one photo.
