Amehl

” Love Handles”, Amehl’s 7th Collection, which took place in Garber Hardware Store, only made sense, since line was hardware themed.

To me, the setting added beauty and humor to the collection. Amanda Mehl is a designer who likes to infuse her art into her fashion label; her fashion shows have always been held in unique locations to bring her ideas and collections to life. Amanda’s first show took place inside a school bus. We wish were there for that!

The collection was beautiful to view and her process behind it makes us even bigger fans. Her vision radiates through the collection and redefines what fashion is.

The audience was at the edge of their seats for the entire show, as so many outfits were showcased. Look after look came down the runway, each topping the last. What a show!

Robert Geller

Geller’s AW 2019 collection told a story that never stopped getting interesting. The “Mountain Climbing to the Moon” is a menswear collection that’s a metaphor, a tribute, and a memory.

Geller’s collection was inspired by many different things, as hinted at by the title; it was inspired by mountain climbers and utilized wool to create warm layered looks. This year is also the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, so Geller took inspiration from astronauts for his pieces. He also paid tribute by adding quotes from this time changing moment to the looks, and adding color and creative designs to pay tribute to Bowie.

Models flew down the runway in headgear created by hair stylist Chrystoph Marten, the helmets being inspired by helmets worn by the original astronauts.

A portion of the looks were part of the Robert Geller x lululemon Collection. These were different from Geller’s other pieces because the looks fashioned a purple sweatband over their headgear, which will be available in May.

The show which took place at Pier 59 Studios, was complemented by the live band, Yeah Baby, which brought life to the runway and made the show even more exciting!
