Making his brand debut at New York Fashion Week, Cong Tri’s Fall/Winter 2019 Collection at Spring Studios was not a thread short of dazzling.
The designer, inspired by the “revolution of red-carpet ball gowns” brought us a highly anticipated show, which gave a new meaning to “Ready to Wear “with his signature fringing, embroidery and applique. Cong Tri’s collection presented gowns and cocktail dresses in rich textures, innovative shapes and bold color tones. Even the way in which the dresses moved on the models was effortless and embodied femininity .
One common trend in this collection was the incorporation of bows in many of the dresses. This stylish addition was seen at the waist, the bust and the bottom of several gowns. This could easily transcend from red carpet ready to after party chic.
Furthermore, with rumours of a handbag line in the works, it will be interesting to see how his upcoming accessories collection incorporates his signature style. Without a doubt, it will not be too long before high quality designer replica handbags in similar styles to his own designs start to appear.
Another noticeable trend was the intricate beading and jewel embellishment on gowns, often paired with a fabulous overcoat. Having had the chance to be up close, the application was absolutely beautiful! He didn’t reserve this intricacy for just the floor length gowns either, it was on a few of the mid length dresses as well. The designer has “woven more contemporary materials like metallic organza, 3D woven jacquard and holographic rayon”, than any preceding collection.
The self-taught Vietnamese designer has had much success internationally and has accrued an impressive roster of famous clientele. We can’t wait to see what the brand has in store for future collections!
