@jmendel
For NYFW, J. Mendel brought us an uptown, ladylike tone for their FW19 Collection Presentation.
There was a theme of consciousness in every element from the design, practicality, fabric, and color. The designer Gilles Mendel, tapped into his wealth of knowledge, that women are looking for a more polished look as the female entrepreneurial space grows.
The manipulation of materials is the bedrock of Mendel’s practice, as it was evident namely in a red mille-feuille pleated dress with an asymmetric ruffle neckline and a confectionery pink princess dress. The best of these were dresses of lace; giving off a sort of super-lady Batsheva feel, and beaded knit openwork tunics. The overall design of the collection was texturally rich and fluid with a glam sensibility.
