Grungy Gentleman lived up to its name when the menswear line put their newest collection on display for New York Men’s Fashion Week on Wednesday (July 11th) with the help of some special models including Jim Jones, NY Knicks player Michael Beasley, Tennessee Titans’ player Tye Smith and former NFL player Isaiah Pead.

With music provided by DJ Juanyto of Hot 97, Dream Downtown momentarily turned into a showcase of contemporary fashion, culture, and style. Mixing the casual with the athletic, designer and founder Jace Lipstein found the sweet spot for his latest line with a clean aesthetic, simple structure and warm colors.

Dipset heavyweight Jim Jones kicked off the show, offering the crowd his best model walk and oversized grin. Over the course of 20 minutes, the string of models donned the S/S 2019 line, which featured everything from blazers to crewnecks, pants, outerwear, and leisurely sportswear. Beyond the apparel, some of the men also rocked Grungy Gentleman X New Era caps in partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Baseball (MLB). With a fitting pose, models casual made their way down the catwalk and made sure to tip their hats to cameramen after their slide down the runway.

“Grungy Gentleman is an exciting, fresh take on urban style, athletic tailoring, and menswear,” Lipstein said in a statement. “We debuted a six stripe wave last season and we’re really taking that to the next level this season– we’re doing mixed media with it, mashing up unique fabrics, for several silhouettes including a polo and hoodie.”

Lipstein went on to admit that his favorite fabric at the moment is Grungy Gentleman’s “oatmeal fabric.” “It doesn’t stifle a man when approaching the rack. We want guys to feel like, hey this can elevate my style a little bit more than when I woke up this morning– without taking them completely out of their comfort zone,” he continued. Among some of the special guests at the event included London Brown (HBO Ballers), Brett Gray (Netflix’s On My Block), Jerome Lamaar (Fashion Influencer), Neville Hewitt (NY Jets), Mani Love (Harlem Globetrotters), Madelyn Burke (SI’s The Crossover Host), Josh Boone (Former NBA / Brooklyn Nets).
